The gig the other night at the Gloucester rocked! I do beleive we were the best band of the evening :o) BUT our set was cut short, which annoyed us no end. The sound man strormed over to the stage, interrupting our set, to tell us to play only one more. This pissed me off because he hadn’t approached any of the other bands during their set. Apparently the lack of time was due to the first band going over by about 15mins….why didn’t anyone cut them short?? Never mind, was a good little gig and we blew everyone else off stage. Steve loved it and was a little drunk. He’d just heard about the murder of his guitar hero from Pantera so he bashed the drums even harder. Next gig is a Xmas party on the 21st with the Mutts, Metro Cities and Dirty Social.. I’d advise people to get to the pub for 6.30 as it will be jam packed. We can’t advertise the gig, but you’ll know the venue cos we will have told you in person ;o)

Gig tonight at the Gloucester, Grande Parade, Brighton. We are on about ten-ish. Also playing are Decoder (?). We’ve heard that we’ve been mentioned on an XFM radio show and (randomly) a lady in San Fransisco heard us being played out there!! The LuLu’s go global.

Wednesday, December 08, 2004

Playing tomorrow night (Thursday 9th) at the Gloucester, Grande Parade, Brighton. We are on about ten-ish, supporting Decoder and it’s about £4/5 in, which seems a lot but there are 4 bands playing.. See you there.

Thursday, November 25, 2004

Gig time…..Playing at the Gloucester club on the 9th December as part of White Cube Records night. Details to follow. Also playing a private xmas party with the Mutts, Dirty Social Disorder and Really Really Metro Cities on the 21st December and you’ll get an invite if you know us :o)

Check this review of our demo out!!!!!
“Take two guitars, a drum kit and some mics, hand them over to three female musicians, and what have you got? A group. Hand them over to Lucy, Louisa and Stevie, a.k.a. Teasing Lulu, and you’ve got dynamite! These three can outplay, out write and out style many of the bands on the scene at the moment.Teasing Lulu have a ‘kick ass’ attitude and produce a sound that is fresh in its style of a blend of rock and 70’s punk. With a voice that’s a combination of Siouxie Sioux, Debbie Harry and her very own, lead vocalist Lucy Dalton has depth and ability, combining this with accomplished axe work. Bassist Louisa Carr holds rhythm in the palm of her hand, while Stevie Styx’s Drumwork is like an AK-47 used with love.“The Ex Factor” is brilliantly performed with the band showing their ability to communicate the exciting essence of the song. Opening with a superb bass line this number takes no prisoners. From the almost primal sound at first through to the rock heartbeat, this must deserve the opening spot at any gig these girls play. One thing that really strikes you about “Cat and Mouse” is the total confidence that the band display, performing a number full of ‘kick ass sass’. Once again Lucy’s vocals provide both challenge, and balance to the music. Two hits of the chorus on this one will make it stick in your head.Teasing Lulu certainly have a sound good enough to fill a club with fans, but is it good enough make more? Once you’ve heard this CD you’ll know the answer can only be YES! YES! YES!”
That review was by Emily Warner from the website http://www.hotnewbands.co.uk
The site is pretty ace, so worth a look. The Ex Factor is such a good song, I think we should push for someone to rtelease it properly on vinyl and 7″.

Great fun gig last night at Brighton Lives Freebutt show. The venue was really packed out, which pleased us no end. It’s always fab to have our friends at the shows, but it’s also cool when people we’ve never met come down especially to see us. I’ll be sorting the mailing list soon, so all the new people who put down their names can expect a mail or two. We debuted a song we had only written the day before, called ‘Sophie’. I think we kinda pulled it off!
We also must to take the opportunity to say goodbye to John Peel. A real inspiration to music fans and one of the most important people in British music. I once met Peel’s producer and good friend John Walters (RIP) at Victoria Station, propping up the bar. He was a true gent and spoke very fondly of Peel..

Wednesday 27th October, Brighton Freebutt, on about 9pm. It’s FREE, free I tell you. As part of Brighton Live week we are playing with the Trick and Rose Kemp (that’s Rose, not Ross, the baldy actor Grant Mitchell bloke, who hasn’t worked since leaving Enders). Get down ahnd see all of us for FREE.

Thursday, October 14, 2004

Me and Lucy tripped each other up on stage, stood on each others pedals and the sound man didn’t turn the vocals up for ages BUT it was a rockin gig at the Freebutt. We played Cherry Killer for the first time in Brighton. We ripped through six songs. The Dirty Social Disorder were great bluesy rock and the Towers of London (despite their onstage persona) were just a bunch of softies really. Nice chaps and they liked our set. Us and the DSD finished off the night at Graham’s from Taller Than/She Said and drank JD and listened to each others demo’s.

Tuesday, October 12, 2004

Well, well, well. Croydon was a success. We had so much fun and a really good crowd. The Sussex Squares were fab. Mad surf rock tastic! Oops, and the venue name was the Grouse and Claret. Sorry we didn’t put that on site sooner. Someone said I was like the female JJ Burnel, which some girls might find a bit strange, but i thought was cool. Lucy was complemented on her guitar sound and Steve played Cat and Mouse WAY quick. We’ve got 2 amazing recordings and we ar excited about them. Come see us tomorrow in Brighton at the Freebutt, 8.30 with the DSD and Towers of London. Yeah.

Wednesday, September 29, 2004

We are recording 2 new tracks that will hopefully become a single. They are The Ex Factor and Cherry Killer (which debuted at the Hope and Anchor last Saturday) and we are in no doubt they will sound kick ass. There’s a gig in Croydon on the 9th Oct, but we’re not sure where exactly. Then it’s the 13th at the Freebutt and again at the Freebutt on the 26th, not the 27th as stated. Toodle-oo!

Saturday, September 18, 2004

We have an online interview at http://www.ffruk.com
Check it out. Gig a week today at the Hope and Anchor.

Friday, September 10, 2004

Really fun gig at the BN1 Club the other night. Cheers for coming down. Steve the drummer just managed to make it as he had 2 gigs that night with his other band, so well done to him! The Engine Rooms could shape up to be a really good little band night, so I hope it keeps going, but some monitors might be helpful in future ;o) The show went without a hitch and the only small problem was hearing one another. Robin and Ange Provocateur made an appearance, which was really cool.
Me and Lucy did a DJ set (snigger) after the show so there was a healthy mix of Stranglers, Sabbath, Kinks and Rage (Lucy’s choice…guess who I picked). Successful evening and thanks to Swetbox for the bass amp and kit. Cheers to Robin PC3 for the guitar amp head too!

Tuesday, September 07, 2004

GIG confirmed for the 25th September at the Hope and Anchor. Yay! Punk rock mecca. I’m so excited. The Stranglers and various other bands used to frequent the place and even live upstairs. It’s a headliner, so it’s important you all come down. :o)

King and Queen was a bit strange. The gig fell on the same day as some football thing. Oh dear. Full of footie fans and we thought we might get some shit. The promoter stuck us on straight after the football, wonder if he thought that girls in short skirts would keep the lads in the pub? Anyway, it didn’t. We didn’t get any grief, apart from a geezer picking up Lucy’s guitar, who was swiftly dealt with and another guy humping the monitors infront of us (urgh) but he too was dealt with (pint poured on his head or something). We played pretty good I thought and everyone enjoyed Ex Factor. Our friends the Mutts, Phil Collins 3 and Really Metro Cities were there (and some Dirty Social boys). Some London gigs coming up! Oh, and we’re playing the Engine Rooms in Brighton tomorrow night (BN1 Club) with Combat Shock (punk rawwwk).

Friday, September 03, 2004

CANCELLED. Tonights gig at the Dublin Castle due to evil old women who shouldn’t be bothering us with their turgid past it 80s punk rock. Sorry to those who were coming to see us, but blame Girls On Top for their uncharitable view on amp sharing. We had a driver and van sorted but this all fell through early today. We coulda got the train and shared amps, but met with a resounding “no way”. We will play Dublin Castle again, so we will let you know. Tomorrow at King and Queen in Brighton is still on and should be a rocker. On stage at 9.30!

Wednesday, September 01, 2004

We have a gig confirmed for the 18th September, somewhere in deepest darkest Croydon. Lucy can’t remember the venue, but we’ll letcha know. Just written a great new tune called Cherry Killer. See ya Friday in London :o)

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

LONDON GIG… Friday 3rd September at Dublin Castle, Camden. Hope to see y’all there. We are supporting Girls On Top. Should be a rocker! Played an all dayer thing yesterday at the Audio/Escape club here in Brighton. I wore my pretty party frock and lady shoes. Very unusual. Was pretty tired after travelling back from Cardiff with the Mutts that mornin (I tagged along to the last 2 killer shows they’d done with the Dirtbombs on their tour – and much fun and rock action it was!).

Thursday, August 12, 2004

Thanks to everyone who came to the Providence show, thus avoiding the Big Brother final! It was a great gig, one of the best in a while. A speedy 6 song set. We have more dates lined up for September. They are:
1st Sept at Camden Underworld
3rd Sept at Dublin Castle with Girls On Top
4th Sept at King and Queen, Brighton
8th Sept at BN1 Club, Engine Rooms.
And I’m sure there’s more to come…
We have been confirmed to play Brighton Live on the 27th October at the Freebutt. Basically this is a similar event to Radio 1’s live week last year. There’ll be free bands most nights at various venues. Cool!
Still practicing with Gail. Hope to get some photo’s with her soon.

Thursday, August 05, 2004

New dates! 19th August at the Pressure Point, Brighton. 4th September at the King and Queen also in Brighton. We have been rehearsing with a new drummer called Gail. It’s all going very well and she’s wicked. We’ll keep ya posted :o)

Tuesday, July 20, 2004

We have been confirmed to play the Providence in Hove on 6th August. Also the 8th September at the Engine Rooms in Brighton. Hopefully we have a support with Jayne County coming up, but we’ll keep you posted on that one.

Friday, July 16, 2004

Portland Rock Bar gig went dead well. The atmosphere was really good and we played a punky fast set. Tailspin headlined and they are really cool. We especially liked the last song in their set, but I’m not sure what it was called! They’re lovely people too. We had a weird naked dummy ladies torso on stage, lit up by an orange rope light. Maybe a LuLu fourth member?? Robin our head Teaser came along with Angie and we’d not seen him in ages. He’s been busy with his band the Provocateurs. Dirty Social Disorder drummer Bosh made a surprise appearance, as did a Really Metro City and members of My Tour Of Duty (crazee girl drummer). Will post the next gig soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, July 13, 2004

We had a busy weekend. We played at a private party in a place called Wimbish in Cambridgeshire. Very strange day, but we rocked out. Poor Lucy had to do the drive back (STILL no hunky road crew have volunteered!!)and we arrived home about 5 in the morning. Then we played the Enigma in Brighton. The headliners Rosco had pulled out so we topped the bill. Unfortunately me and Lucy were SO tired we had to drink to stay awake, which meant we were a bit ropey. But it was fun. It was Jakes first gig with us and he’d been up for 72 hours after a stag weekend, so all in all we didn’t do too bad. Next gig is Wednesday 14th July at the Portland Rock Bar with Tailspin (who also played at the Enigma).

Saturday, July 03, 2004

GIG GIG GIG. With drummer Jake at the Enigma, Ship Street in Brighton on Sunday 11th July. We are supporting female fronted punkers Rosco. Should be a good un. Jake is the drummer with the Really Really Metro Cities, one of our favourite Brighton bands. We’ve even had some snaps taken with him, so watch out for those on site soon.

Wednesday, June 16, 2004

We had a blast at Brighton Rocks. The whole day was way fun. Our set went well and featured a cover of Blitzkrieg Bop, sung by me. First time I’ve sang lead vocal and played in public, so that was kinda scary. We also played our new song Loser (with impressive screams by Lucy) and that seemed to go down cool. Old friends came to watch us from miles away, so that was mega amazing. Good crowd, good bands, good beer and a sunny beach! Yeah. Gig booked for the 11th July at Brighton’s Enigma supporting Rosco.

Thursday, June 10, 2004

BRIGHTON ROCKS. This Sunday the 13th June at the Concorde 2. We are on at 6.15pm. Doors open at 3pm and it’s £3/4 entry. The football is being shown at about 7.45 in the Concorde, so there’s no excuse for staying in cos of the footie. Get there early cuz all the bands are worth catching.

Saturday, June 05, 2004

We played with a really cool girl band called the Ass Rockets (average age 16) in Burgess Hill. Kind of reminded me of us when we first started gigging. I think the band were two sisters with their dad (drummer for Mr Green Vendetta) on drums. We played a short, sharp and sweet set and rocked it out as much as we could (couldn’t really hear much on stage). I gave the old violin bass a go for this gig and will probably use it for Brighton Rocks on the 13th. Which reminds me…you all MUST get to this gig. It’s at the Concorde 2 and features some of the most rockin local bands including the Mutts, Phil Collins 3 and Johnny Truant. I guess we’re on about 3-4ish (it’s an all dayer and all ages). £3/4 in. BARGAIN. We’re also discussing doing a splitter vinyl single with punkers Mr. Green Vendetta. So we can flog it to ya’s from this very site. Cheers!

Tuesday, May 18, 2004

Hey hey hey! We haven’t gone completely quiet. Oh no, we are busy writing more songs and we’ve just confirmed a gig for Brighton’s soon to be hot gig spot, The Outsiders. That’s at the Enigma (oh dear, keep us away from the bar) on 9th September. basically we get to gig with an out of town band and that gives people a chance to see bands they wouldn’t necessarily have heard of. Plus, if it all goes well, we can have a rock and roll swap and gig in their home town. So far confirmed as playing with us are The Phil Collins 3 and Les Flames. Me and Lucy are getting a flat together (LuLu HQ) so we’re busy sorting out all that. Steve (ex Stupids, and present Lords of the New Church) is still filling in on drums and he’s sounding great, ready for the Burgess Hill gig in a week or so. See yers there.

Wednesday, May 12, 2004

We’re due to complete some recording on the 30th May. The plan is to get down as many of our tracks as possible and there may even be a legendary punk rock guitarist producing some of it! Still looking for a drummer, so if anyones interested in the job, gis an email. See you at one of the gigs soon.

Wednesday, April 28, 2004

It’s all change for Teasing LuLu right now as we’re sorry to say that Serena is no longer a LuLu. No bad feelings between us but she’s a busy girl with her college commitments and general rock and roll-ness. So, me and Lucy are currently looking for a drummer. We better get one sharpish as we have a gig at the Junction in Burgess Hill on 28th May and a Brighton Rocks gig at the Concorde 2 on the 13th June (with the Mutts and Phil Collins Three amongst others). Keep an eye on the site for further details and to see who becomes the next LuLu!

Sunday, April 18, 2004

Check the Archive page for some photos from last month’s Punk Aid.

Thursday, April 08, 2004

Next gig is pencilled in for 23rd April at the Black Horse in Brighton. More details to follow.

If you all fancy a laugh at someone pretending to know what they’re doing, come and see me DJ on Saturday night. I’ve been invited by the lovely Miss Pain and Heidi Heelz to join them at their night “When I Plugged Her In She Just Blew Up” at the Penthouse, Freebutt. Dress code is pirates and mermaids! Not sure what I’ll be playing yet, but rest assured there’ll be Stranglers in there some where and maybe some Teasing LuLu?

Monday, March 29, 2004

Just got back fom Punk Aid where we were third on the bill for Friday nights shenanigans! Poor Lucy had to drive us all the way there and back, so she was knackered (where are all these hunky roadie boys we were promised way back??). Needless to say we hit the bar, and had a great time spinning ourselves sick on the dance floor (music DJ’d by the Damned’s Mr. Sensible…ta for putting the Stranglers on Captain!). The gig itself was weird as we couldn’t hear very much on stage and it was all a bit of a rush. It was nice to meet new people including some fellow Washington pals and as ever good to see a newly blonde Gina the Web Master!
Gig tonight at the Freebutt, so come along…

Wednesday, March 24, 2004

GIG at the Freebutt Monday the 29th March. Support from Fight Club. Serena is now on her hols (but will be back ready to smash through a few skins in April) so it’s Steve on drums and the same for Punk Aid. See yer later!

Tuesday, March 09, 2004

We’re still on for Punk Aid at the end of this month…Poor Tim (Punk Aids main man) has been wondering what we’ve been up to, but we had to sort out a drummer as Serena is snow boarding or something. Hope she doesn’t break her arm. Steve and his psychedelic dress will be doing the honours once more. We’ve got a new fan in Brazil called Antonio. Cool huh?
We’re also cracking on with song writing and hopefully we can finish the Tasty Boy Sessions, which we started ages ago. Only got the vocals and extra geetar left to do.

Saturday, March 06, 2004

I have been slack not telling you how Manchester went. We were joined on our little jaunt by Karlos and Dean fron the band Father Paranoia. The Retro Bar was amazing and worth the visit for the after gig club ‘Voodoo’ alone. Every tune was a winner. Psych, surf, garage and rock and roll. They even played Nice n’ Sleazy and I promise I had nuthin to do with it! We were due on stage at 12 and much to our pleasure we were presented with free crates of beer. Suffice to say we were merry by the time we had to play. It was packed out and we played a loud set. It all went down well with the cool and may I say sharp lookin’ audience. They know how to dress in Manchester, they’re all dudes. Lucy was off chasing tasty boys, I danced very uncooly and Serena collapsed under a table. But not before she disappeared off running down Canal Street with me and Dean in hot pursuit having to scale the canal and a wall in platform go-go boots (me, not Dean!). We ended up back at promoter Stef’s kitsch 50s flat and crashed on the floor. Karlos managed to fall drunkenly on my head as I tried to sleep. No damage done…for a change. Now we want to tour so badly. We had a mattress in the back of the van so we all got a chance for a kip at some stage of the journey, wedged between the kit and the bass amp…hmmm comfy! We all think that service stations are great and got overly excited at the prospect of stopping and eating over priced greasy food. Yeah!!!!

Wednesday, February 25, 2004

Check out the new pictures in the Archive section…they were taken at our recent Concorde 2 gig. We’re gigging in Manchester on Friday which makes a change from our mini tour of Brighton recently. As we’ve been busy gigging, we’re gonna get down to some song writing next month as the set needs a shake up.

Friday, February 20, 2004

Big thanks to Steve and his stirling efforts on the drums tonight. The man even wore a dress and a cute little hat…WOW! Suited him better than me. We played a short set of only 5 songs, but I think we pulled it off. The Woodsmen are fast becoming one of my favourite Brighton bands and I’ll be seeing them play again soon. The Mutts were amazing!! Rock and roll with proper mean riffs! Lucy hadn’t seen them before but she was so impressed. And a great dirty bass sound, which suits me fine. The crowd loved them and me and Lucy go-go danced (in a confined space!) and had a wicked time. Great stuff all round and I hope we all get to play together again some time soon.

Another rockin’ gig at the Pav Tav. It always seems to sound great and go great there. I had a good gig, but Lucy’s spirits were dampened by a parking ticket. Those little chocolate honey comb vodka shots are amazing…hic! Was a pleasure to see the Teasers back and we were given some CD’s by punk duo the Provocateurs, who’d kindly given us a dedication in their single covers. Thanks guys!
Also lurking in the audience were members of the Dirty Social Disorder (yep..we’ll be there on the 22nd!), Daddy Fantastic and the Phil Collins Three (and some Mutts who came in for last orders). Tonight at the Freebutt with Steveo on drums, and so concludes our mini “Within A Mile” tour of Brighton.

Thursday, February 19, 2004

Amazing show at the Concorde last night and we really enjoyed ourselves. We replaced the Trick who couldn’t play as their guitarist had chopped his finger off, well that was the rumour. We saw him later and we’re happy to report that it’s just about intact and he will play guitar again!
See you at the Pav Tav later!

Wednesday, February 18, 2004

GIG TONIGHT AT THE CONCORDE 2! Yep, another last minute addition. We’re playing as part of FHM magazine’s girl band night. Should be rockin’ so get down and check all us chicks out!
The Smugglers/Enigma gig…er…didn’t happen. We got barred and thrown out after being in the building ten minutes (we’re also barred from the Hobgoblin, are we trouble or something?). There’s an empty bar, no staff and a thirsty band. What would you do? Well, we helped ourselves to some pints and got kicked out. Couldn’t even play the show. Humourless gits that they are at the Enigma. The RAW people were great and wanted us to play but the venue wouldn’t even allow us on the front step, despite us promising to be good girls in future. Oh well, we’ll try our best not to get booted out tonight.
Also, we’re gigging at the Pav Tav tomorrow night and Friday at the Freebutt with those lovely boys The Mutts.

Sunday, February 15, 2004

Short notice, but we’re playing a gig tonight at the Enigma club, upstairs at the Smugglers on Ship St. Brighton. It’s the next round of the band thing and there’s gonna be some cool music on and 7 bands for £4 ain’t bad, so get yer wallets out and buy me and the girls some beer. See ya there!

Thursday, February 05, 2004

Few more gigs to look forward to…we’re back in our old haunt the Pav Tav on the 19th Feb with our own headlining show, then we’re excited to be supporting The Mutts on the 20th at the FREEBUTT. I originally said it was the Pressure Point, but it’s not! Also playing are the Woodsmen. Very cool stuff. Should be a rockin’ gig. We don’t have Serena that night (she’s triple booked herself) so our guest drummer will be Steve, formerly of The Stupids. He’s a rock and roll, surfin, 60s, go cat type of drummer. Yeah! Also, we’ve just been interviewd for the Hype column in local Brighton mag the Source. Look out for that in March.

Monday, February 02, 2004

Yay! We are through to the next round of Brighton’s Raw Battle of The Bands thing. Rock and roll! i think our set could be described as spirited! A few drinks and we were rockin’ out. Thanks to all those who came along to show their support and wisely cast their votes.

Sunday, January 25, 2004

Take a look at http://www.rawbrighton.co.uk/ to see the full diary of events for RAW Brighton Battle of The Bands. I don’t really agree with battles of the bands because we’re all SO different in Brighton, but it’s a great excuse to get together and watch friends play and have a drink or two. We’re playing with Naked Ape, The Woodsmen, Autumn Red and On Ice (I think). Therefore we’ll kick their butts..haha. Come see, it’s free and vote away. 6-10.30pm.

Saturday, January 24, 2004

We have loads of gigs lined up for February! First up, come and vote for us in the RAW Battle of The Bands on Feb the 1st. We’re appearing at the Pav Tav in Brighton and it’s free entry. We could be on anytime between 6-11pm! Eeek! I’d guess around 8pm is a good bet. Come and vote so we can be in the semi finals with our friends Stash, Father Paranoia and The Dirty Social Disorder! Yeah!
18th Feb sees us at the Concorde 2 in Brighton, some kind of all girlie band evening. Go cats go! We’re back at the Pav Tav again on the 19th playing just before indie club Mad For It. Come and dance to QOTSA and The Smiths.
27th Feb and we’re heading upt’ North (ish) to Manchester at the Retro Bar, on stage at midnight. So cool to play outta town and hopefully we can make a mini tour of it. See ya on the 1st…come and rig our votes. I’m kiddin’!

Friday, January 16, 2004

Great gig last night. The best ontage sound we’ve had in a while. We played really tight and everything seemed to go smoothly. Me and Lucy had fun onstage walking about and crossing leads like Mick Jones and Paul Simonon (but not as choreographed cos we got tangled up and almost tripped over). Shame we were on so early as some of our friends missed it, but a refreshing gig all the same put on by the lovely Nicole. Afterwards I partied at the Pav Tav, so a wicked end to a groovy evening. Rock and roll pat on the back to Father Paranoia who pulled off a cool show and only their 2nd ever gig!!

Thursday, January 15, 2004

GIG GIG GIG TONIGHT!!! At the Pressure Point, Brighton. Only £2 to get in and we’re on at 9.00pm. It’s all been a bit short notice, but that’s rock n’ roll! Also playing are the Trick and Father Paranoia.

Monday, January 12, 2004

Thanks to all who came to the Albert gig. It was a crazy punk rock night. The high light being when we started a song but just not the same song or altogether. Ha ha! It’s the spirit of ’77 alright! Lucy showed off a new haircut, shaved on one side a bit like Brody Armstrong, but obviously Lucy is way cooler. Special mention to Miss Pain who provided me with a much needed onstage beer. It was a weird set up onstage with Serena stuck in one corner and Lucy had my bass amp blasting in her ear (not a bad thing eh?).
Saw some great bands last night. Father Paranoia and Stash. Rock and roll boys indeed! We’re planning a gig with our friends Stash, Speedophiles and Daddy Fantastic in the near future. Will letcha know!

Saturday, January 10, 2004

GIG!!! Tonight at the Albert, Trafalger St, Brighton upstairs with Naked Ape. I think we’re headlining but come along for 8.30 just incase. Hope you all (those who live in Brighton) checked out this months Insight paper for our very first interview! We’ve also been offered an acoustic session on our friends Matt and Vinnies radio show, hopefully next week. More details to follow. Not sure how Punk Pin Up and others will work acoustically. Like MTV unplugged but on a much smaller scale!

Thursday, January 08, 2004

Hello again! We kicked off the new year with a gig at the Portland Rock Bar in Hove (it has pictures of the Stones and Beatles on the wall, therefore qualifies as a ‘rock bar’). The gig was hot and sweaty, but fun. We’re all a bit rusty on the playing front after our food and drink binge festive holiday (isn’t Advocaat great? Alchoholic custard, yum). So, it’s off to the studio for some serious practice. We debuted our new song Cat and Mouse which sounded pretty fast and raw. It’s got a funny little drum intro. Support was from the amazing Speedophiles, fronted by Dan, a proper rock star! Hopefully we’ll be gigging with them again soon.
It was also good to see the regular Teasers; The Provocative Robin and Ange, Annie, Mel, Laurence, Millie, Ros, Duncan and some new faces too :o)
Next gig is upstairs at the Albert with Naked Ape on Saturday. We’ll probably be on around 10pm. See yers!

Monday, December 22, 2003

As said in the immortal lyrics of Shakin’ Stevens, “Merry Christmas Everyone”.

We’ll see you in the new year!

Friday, December 19, 2003

ROCK N ROLL! Last night we out rock and rolled all the bands in Oxford. I think we played a mad, fast and energised set. The secret is to have fun, not worry what notes your playing and be as cheeky as hell to the audience. It also helps if your drummer breaks the other support bands snare during the very first song..hehe. Although we were first on, there was a pretty big audience and I think they liked us. We had a grand finale that included me going head first over the drums with stripey legs sticking out from over the cymbals. Then the drums (not ours..oops) got trashed and kicked over and then Serena fell on top of me. Lucy played it well cool and posed to one side of the stage like a proper rock star. I was wedged behind the kit and all the debauchery ended up in a trip to A+E today for concussion. It’s ok though folks, I’m only seeing very small birdies flying round my head. Bit bashed and bruised, but apparently it looked great, and that’s what matters!

Wednesday, December 17, 2003

Get to the Oxford Zodiac early, as we are the first band on. Gonna kick ass!

Tuesday, December 16, 2003

Support at Reading went well. Apart from fluffing the start of Mr. Misery, we played good and the sound was great. Unfortunately there was a whacking great concrete pillar right on the stage. That meant I was trapped on one side of it and couldn’t see Lucy, so we couldn’t do as much of our “meeting in the middle” geeky dance moves. The Captain joined us on stage for a rendition of Tasty Boy and jumped all over me! The Damned played great but the audience were so flat. They didn’t really get going for any of the bands. I think the Damned were disappointed too. Absinthe flowed back stage, Serena crowd surfed, we nicked their rider and Dave Vanian talked Bedazzled…so a pretty cool night indeed!
On to Oxford’s Zodiac next, with our driver Dan Speedophile at the wheel. See you later!

Sunday, December 14, 2003

Just to letcha know we will be the Damned’s main support act at Reading. Which basically means we’ll be on directly before them and we should get a nice audience! I guess we’ll see some of you there.
Also, we are re-scheduling our January 8th Pav Tav gig to later on in the month, but we’ll keep ya posted.
Me and Lucy just went to a supposed 60s night. A handful of Stones tracks, one Kinks song and Crosstown Traffic played twice does not a 60s club make. I had me mod dress on and everything! Where were the Pretty Things, Cream, The Hollies, The Animals, Syd Barrett and Peter Cook doing ‘Bedazzled’?
Seeing as we share a rehearsal space with them, I oughta mention the blinding gig played by Peter and The Test Tube Babies (they make the mic’s smell) the other night. We go-go danced on the tables to thrashy punk and Peter go-go’d with us!

Friday, December 12, 2003

Today we worked on a new song. Hurrah! It’s called Liar Liar and has a groovy 60s bass line, Lucy doing a surfy/Dick Dale guitar and Serena playing like Mick Avory of the Kinks. Serena summed it up when she stood up from behind her drums and said, “If we get this song right our children will live in nice houses”. Haha!
In the meantime, we have to prepare for our support slots with the Damned next week. The demo will be finished early in January and Steve is promising it’s gonna be GREAT!
A couple of the North East ‘Teasers’ were spotted sporting Teasing LuLu T-shirts and badges to a recent Damned gig in Newcastle. Spread the word! We really should start selling those shirts online…let us know if the idea interests ya.

Lucy and I took a break from our crazy rock and roll life styles, to go and watch the film Love Actually. We thought it’d be a load of sentimental rubbish, and it is, but in a very nice and uplifting way. We don’t normally plug films but the FAB performance of Bill Nighy as an ageing rocker trying to score a Xmassy hit (and uncannily, surrounded by page three stunna’s too…how very coincidental), leads me nicely to another plug for Punk Aid’s “Ere’s Yer Xmas”. I believe the single (dosh raised helps fund a school for kids with cerebral palsey) is released on the 15th. I thought I’d mention it again, as a loyal Punk Aid supporter had left a few hundred messages on our guest book. Buy it and keep those spandex clad saddo’s the Darkness and the Pop Idol muppet’s off the top. Let’s not line the high waisted pockets of Mr. Cowell. Or you could buy the lovely Bill Nighy’s single which is funny, but shit.

Saturday, December 06, 2003

The demo is almost finished. “The Tasty Boy Sessions” as I might call them here, are sounding FAT. There’s only a few more guitars to put down and the vocals, then we’re done. Lucky Serena has the rest of the time off until the mix!
Steve at 284 has really captured the energy of the performances and he’s a dude anyway.
We will be appearing in the January edition of the Insight magazine in Brighton, so keep your eyes out for that in the new year.
Sad to hear about the death of David Hemmings, the star of 60s classics like Barbarella and Blow Up. And we can’t forget he was also the director of 80s classics The A-Team and Quantum Leap too!

Wednesday, December 03, 2003

PUNK PIN UPS! Everywhere they were…We played the launch party for Punk Aid’s bid for the Xmassy top “Ere’s Yer Xmas”. The original gorgeous punk pin up Gaye Advert watched our set and I think she loved Serena. We played a loud set and then mingled with the Punk Aid people and drank expensive rounds of beer. £10 for three Stella’s. An outrage! Our web master was there too and took some groovy pic’s. See the gallery section for those.
Today Lucy and Serena are doing some more work on the demo. My bass bits come later, so I get the day off!

Monday, December 01, 2003

Us and the Speedophiles turned up to the gig at the Volks to find a shut up venue with not a single person about. We went to the pub, then came back a few more times and it was still shut!

So, no gig…some promoter or other had cocked it all up!

Wednesday, November 26, 2003

Gig at the Volks on Saturday the 29th is actually now on the 30th…same venue, just the day after we originally thought!

Peter and The Test Tube Babies have the practice slot just before us at our favourite local rehearsal studio 284. However, they make the mic’s stink! Stale beer and fag breath and I have to sing into it..Urgh. Nice blokes though..

We have been asked to play the launch party of Punk Aid’s Xmas single. We will be playing along side ATV and Mispelt at the Kings Head, Fulham Palace Road, Fulham. Charity single “Ere’s Your Xmas” features the likes of Captain Sensible, Marky Ramone, garage rock legends The Electric Prunes, Charlie Harper, Martin Newell (the Independents poet in residence!), Mark Perry (who did that Sniffin’ Glue punk mag way back before your LuLu’s were even thought of) and ex-Pop Idol Rik Waller! The night is being partly organised by Total Rock and Kerrang!

We played Hastings last night. Bit of a trek out there to a club called Heroes. There was a definite “you aren’t from round here” vibe, but after a pretty trouble free gig, we got some nice comments from the (mostly) young audience. It was nice to see some teenage girls appreciating our set and I hope it inspires them to pick up a guitar (or sticks!). I think that would be great. The venue is quite badly laid out and could do with out the huge wall that we had to play too. Audience members had to peek out from either side of the wall, so not very practical. I think some people were quite surprised how loud we are…we ain’t a wimpy girly band y’know!

We’ve been confirmed as support for the Damned at Reading and Oxford on the 15th Dec and 18th Dec. http://www.officialdamned.com for details.

The demo is being recorded at a nice leisurely pace so that we know it’s as good as we can make it. We’ll keep you all up to date on it’s progress!

Friday, November 14, 2003

Went ligging to the opening night of Lock 17 (formerly Dingwalls) in Camden. DJ’s included Jerry Dammers of the Specials and our old friend Captain Sensible of the Damned. Captain played Mr.Misery in his set to great feed back and many dancers. It sounded huge in a club!

NEW SITE! We’ve had a spring clean and you might’ve noticed a lovely new purple vibe. There’s lots of new pictures and even new band pages with up to date (short) interviews.
Gig wise we’ve one in Hastings on the 20th November…as it’s been a quieter gig month we’ve been working on a new demo with our friend Steve, that includes; Punk Pin Up, Hello Holly, Tasty Boy and Take A Walk.

Monday, November 03, 2003

It was a stormy, blustering, wet day but we battled with cancelled trains and slow crowded tubes to make our Borderline gig. We couldn’t find the place and everyone is a tourist in London, so nobody knows where anything is.
The gig was good, we played the best we could using other peoples gear. Great to see our web master extraordinaire there. Lucy realised that PVC trousers weren’t the best choice as it was so HOT and her spare Firebird guitar kept sqeaking, which was strange. Pick ups we think.. Serena felt privileged to have played on the same stage as Janes Addiction, Incubus and other bands she likes. I was pleased to be treading in the foot steps of Peter “Monkee” Tork, but the bass amp I used was weird. Meant for slappy funky bass (shudder!). One of the bouncers had a real attitude problem, but we didn’t let him get away with his little power trip.
This gig has made us realise the importance of roadies and transport..any takers? But you have to look like Josh Homme..I’m kidding!

Friday, October 31, 2003

Check out http://www.punkbrighton.co.uk/ as we get a lovely front page on their most excellent web site. The first new band to have the honour! The site chronicles the Brighton 70s punk scene and features punk legends like The Lillettes, The Chefs and The Pirahanas. Cool!

Plea for hunky roadies: Lucy and I have agreed that if anyone would like to volunteer to be our roadies and help carry our heavy amps, that would be rather fantastic. You see, we keep doing our backs in. It was me a few weeks ago and last night poor Lucy strained a muscle wrestling with my bass amp. We can only ask!

Our “Nearly But Not Quite Halloween” gig at the Pav Tav was great! Despite pouring rain, being advertised in the local rag that we were playing somewhere else and Janes Addiction on just down the road, we pulled a not bad sized crowd. We just had fun with it and I think we were tight and snappy. Serena had a real carved pumpkin grinning in her bass drum, lit up by a torch. Lucy had on a pair of devilish horns and a rubber skull tie (purchased from a very expensive shop…the 99p shop) which she ended up giving to Ian “the man with good posture” from Shark. I had a massive witches hat which I had to get rid of as it was so hot. A lot of the comments we got from faithful ‘Teasers’ were that it was the best set they’d seen us perform so far. We slipped Don’t Wanna Be Your Waitress into the set, which we haven’t played for ages. Oh, and we all agreed that the chocolate and honey vodka was lovely but we were starving after playing. I can’t wait for the day when we get a rider of food and sweets at every gig. Thanks to Stash and Her Own Escape for supporting. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Thursday, October 30, 2003

Put on yer posh frocks cos we’re presenting some awards at the Brighton Music Awards on Saturday 1st November. Me, Lucy and Serena will be co-presenting some awards to local musicians. The event takes place at the Toad In The Picturehouse, East Street, Brighton. For more info see www.brightonunderground.com.
This afternoon we met MTV2 Gonzo presenter and Radio One DJ Zane Lowe. He’s a tasty bit of stuff, make no mistake… and very nice too. He has a copy of our demo, so I hope he listens to it!

Tuesday, October 28, 2003

Great gig at the Marlborough last night, as part of Radio One’s week in Brighton. Despite so many other good Brighton bands being on in different venues around the town at the same time, we had a packed out audience, with many trailing out the door. I had so much fun on stage and posed about as much as I could. Lucy gave a great performance, despite hardly any monitors and Serena (recovering from her flu) smiled all the way through the set (she did have a drum riser, so maybe she liked how people could actually see her this time!). There are some gigs that are good and some that are blinding. For us, last night felt like the latter. We enjoyed dancing to our new favourite band The Blue Minkies, who have charm to spare and “poundshop pop” lo-fi tunes.
Well done to Radio One for splashing out on some sparkly table cloths!
Oh, and the Marlborough is a much under used but lovely little venue. Like a tiny Victorian theatre with a hint of faded glamour.

Sunday, October 26, 2003

Our guest book is BACK! After the free guest book service was taken away from us, we have now coughed up (we’re not tight!) and the guest book is fully working once more. So get leaving some messages!

Saturday, October 25, 2003

We have a little idea for our gig at the London Borderline on 2nd November. Ideally we’d like to take a mini bus of friends who’d like to come along. Unfortunately, that means everyone chipping in about £13 each. (We haven’t yet reached ‘Sting’ proportions financially and my dad is still angling for a bungalow and a Honda Fireblade). That would mean a trip to and from Charing Cross, which is cheaper than a train fare. We need, probably about another 5 people. Any takers? Email the_girls@teasinglulu.com

Another good but mad gig at Burgess Hill. Support band Autumn Red suffered terrible amp problems and the poor guitarist kept cutting out. A frantic search for another amp ensued and luckily Lucy got to use a working amp…Serena is still suffering with a flu/chest infection and really worked hard to keep it together. She did a grand job, but we really must insist on ‘Lemsip’ sponsorship for our drummer. She also had an interesting way of applying lipstick all over her face and she looked a bit like Steve Strange. I couldn’t see a thing on stage as it was so dark. I asked for some light, then realised this is Burgess Hill we’re talking about. A dim light bulb in the centre of the room was about all we were gonna get! Thanks once again to the “Teasers”; Robin, Ange, Spike, SJ, Cap, Syd, Daisy, Liz and chums.

Monday, October 20, 2003

There are some posters around town advertising a gig on Thursday 23rd October with Manic Cough and Crowe Zone. Unfortunately we are unable to play this gig and we have cancelled. However, Manic Cough and Crowe Zone are still playing. We will do a gig with Manic Cough at somepoint in the future soon.

Remember we are headling at Burgess Hill’s The Junction on Friday the 24th! Promises to be a great gig. Also, there’s the Radio One gig at the Marlborough on Monday the 27th.

Saturday, October 18, 2003

Check out the ‘Radio One Live In Brighton Alternative’ leaflets that are floating about Brighton and elsewhere. They’re neon pink and black, so easy to spot!
We are one of few bands pictured and get a nice little description from the R1 team; “Spirit of ’77 all girl punk trio of the most raucous sort”. We’re also listed on the R1 site for our gig at the Marlborough on the 27th with lo-fi pop punkers the Blue Minkies and Chester.
Thanks to Robin, Ange, Duncan, Ros and Richard, some of our favourite TLL fans for coming to our Hobgoblin gig. We debuted our new punky song “Tasty Boy”..nice groovy verse and a BIG shouty chorus and that went great. Serena was ill again with the flu (the result of a drummers rock n’ roll life?) but she soldiered on. Lucy had amp troubles, as her own faithful little Marshall was in the fixers, so she had to use a horrible Fender amp belonging to Kovak. Despite asking the owner for help with it (several times), she didn’t recieve any, so thanks a bunch guys! Oh, and sometimes it’s nice to share a drum kit…

Friday, October 10, 2003

Just a reminder to tell you to come and see us play upstairs at the Hobgoblin on Thursday 16th October. Also playing are Kovak and The Gas Giants.
The 24th we’re playing at the Junction in Burgess Hill and on the 27th we are playing as part of Radio Ones, One Live Alternative week at the Marlborough (and it’s free, free, free).
We had a great photo session out and about in Brighton with Keith Curtis. Look out for the new snaps soon!

Sunday, October 05, 2003

The gig at the University of Sussex the other day was..er..interesting? The student organisers had set us up to play, in basically what amounted to a coridoor. Other students breezed by carrying books or what ever on their way to lectures (or more likely the Uni bar). Very strange. And Lucy played in her bare feet so she wouldn’t slip wearing her boots on the nicely polished floor. It looked kinda cool though!
The Pressure Point gig fared a lot better and it was great to see lots of new faces and meet new people (some of whom had travelled quite far especially to see us, which was nice). We played a shorter than usual set as there were about four bands playing on the night, but I think we played good! And there were lots of free Fruit Salad chews and free pints of Guiness, which helps.
The local Source magazine includes a little interview with us as part of a feature on the Brighton band ‘scene’. See it if you can…

Sunday, September 28, 2003

Burgess Hill, here we come! Back by popular demand, we are playing the Joiners in Burgess Hill on Friday the 24th October. If it’s anything like the last gig we played there, it should be great. Serena was a big hit with the boys…7 year old boys that is. The landlords son was very taken with her drumming and almost passed out when she gave him her drum stick. Fans..we like to hook ’em in young!
In the next week or so, we’re doing some new photo’s (taken by Keith Curtis) to freshen up the web site. Toodle-oo!

Thursday, September 25, 2003

CANCELLED! Our gig on Saturday 27th has now been moved to October the 27th. Hope nobody’s made any concrete plans to come and see us.
Next gig (apart from day time Uni show) is 1st October at the Pressure Point.

Tuesday, September 23, 2003

More new dates have been added. Thursday 30th October, join us for “Teasing LuLu’s Nearly But Not Quite Halloween Party” at the Pavillion Tavern in Brighton. Dunno about you, but we’re dressing up.. Sunday the 2nd November we’re playing the Borderline in London. Last time I was there I saw Peter Tork from the Monkees playing a solo set. Not as weird as it sounds, he was actually brilliant (and I shook his hand and everything and…er, where was I). Anyway, come and see us in London, we’d love to see you there.

Sunday, September 21, 2003

Gigs, gigs, gigs!!! As already mentioned there’s the gig on the 27th, but we’re venturing into student land (cheap beer, free money and pot noodles) on the 30th when we play Sussex Uni, (Falmer). It’s part of freshers week and we have to be good so all the new indie boys will be impressed and want to be our groupies! We’re on during the day, about 3.00pm I think. October the 1st we’re playing (in Brighton) at the Pressure Point and 16th we’re on at the Hobgoblin, where your boots stick to the floor. We shall be sharing the evenings entertainments with the snappily dressed Kovak. Check that multi coloured drum kit! I wanna Halloween gig, any offers?

Monday, September 15, 2003

We have a gig on the 27th September in the rather strange venue of the Marlborough in Brighton. There’s a small theatre stage upstairs where I’ve seen plays and poetry performed before. It’s gonna be a gig to burst your ear drums! Also playing are the Blue Minkies and Chester. This gig is part of Radio 1’s visit to Brighton where 140 bands will be playing in the forthcoming weeks.

NEW: check out the ARCHIVE section for some new snaps taken at the SBE gig and the last Freebutt gig (the pictres of us on the train are after a very long day directly after the Shepherds Bush gig!). See the LYRICS page for 2 new songs, that we have recently begun to play live.

Sunday, September 14, 2003

Lucy and I arrived (after a very expensive trip in a black cab from Victoria) at Shepherds Bush Empire to be greeted by a sour looking Penetration. There were problems with the sound guy and apparently a few cross words had been said. After a quick pint in the pub next door we went to check out our very first, proper rider. That is a whole bunch of sandwiches, biscuits, crisps, dips, beer and other unhealthy snacks. Very exciting, but I’m sure that novelty will wear off.
Unfortunately we had to play at the horribly early time of 7.30. No one had yet arrived at the venue and my heart sank. However, stepping out onto the stage of SBE (a stage that’s held the likes of Blur, Bowie, The Kinks and The Stranglers) was amazing and our spirits were lifted. Our playing was great, I don’t think we made a mistake (except I fumbled the intro to Mr. Misery..oops!). Thanks to those people who did watch and we received some nice compliments. We debuted a new song called ‘Take A Walk In The Sunshine’, a nice mellow number, and that went down very well, even with the punker dudes. Apparently the sound hadn’t been too hot, but all the bands of the evening suffered the same problem. SBE is such a good looking venue! Very vaudeville and I felt like breaking out into a few Small Faces numbers.
We’ll be posting some SBE snaps to the Archive section and a few new lyrics of songs we’ve recently begun to play, so watch out for those!

Sunday, August 31, 2003

What a great gig at the Freebutt last night and thanks to those who came along. The Whirlwind Heat turned out to be nice boys but they needed some egging on to pinch beer from behind the bar (not that rock n’ roll then..). There was a good size audience and we had fun playing, despite Serena having to play through a haze of Lemsip and snot. Other support band In Vitro kindly leant us their amps and their singer liked us a lot, which was cool. “Punk Pin Up” went down a stormer. It’s funny which songs go down best with different audiences. AND we even sold a few T-shirts (pictures of which will be appearing on site soon).

Sunday, August 17, 2003

We now have T-shirts and pin badges to buy, so keep an eye out at future shows and dig deep!

We’ve just arrived home after a long day in Bristol. No posh tour bus quite yet, so we had to make use of the trains to get to our gig for Ladyfest. Trust us to find a scamming cabbie to drive us (or meander about the place pretending not to know his way around the town) to the gig venue. Luckily Serena was on the case and we didn’t have to pay the whacking great fare after all. Every band needs a tough drummer!
The gig was cool and we played well. It’s always weird using a back line that’s not your own and considering we stumbled off the train and straight onto the stage we did OK. We met the Applicators who seemed like a nice bunch and we watched the fab A-Lines (watch this space for a possible gig with those gals and the LuLu’s). They’re made up of ex-Stuck Ups and ex-Thee Headcoatees and have something to do with Billy Childish. Punk folksters Lesbo Pig liked our Mr. Misery song, as they guessed who our inspiration was (and they were inclined to agree).
We like Ladyfest and what they stand for…it’s a good thing indeed and London should really hold it’s own big Ladyfest next year we think (but we wanna head line!!).

Friday, August 15, 2003

GIG! We have been confirmed as support for US band The Whirlwind Heat on the 30th August @ the Freebutt in Brighton. The Whirlwind Heat are signed to V2 and have recently completed a tour with The White Stripes.

See you there, or at Ladyfest OR at Scream Studios on the 3rd September.

Thursday, August 07, 2003

If you’re in the Bristol area come along to Ladyfest at the Fleece and Firkin on the 17th August. We’re playing alongside the Applicators and the Gossip in a whole day dedicated to female musical talent. No boys with guitars allowed! But you’re welcome to cough up for a ticket and see the bands instead. The winner of ‘best band name’ of the festival goes to Lesbo Pig.

We’ve also been confirmed to play a Brighton Underground/LUV magazine event at Scream Studio’s in Brighton, on 3rd September. It’s free, so there’s no excuse.

Monday, July 21, 2003

Ladyfest Brighton was a success. Thanks to those who have left messages in our guest book and to Lianne for gathering us together! You can always tell a good gig by how much hearing has been lost and my right ear has gone fuzzy. I just reassure myself that John Entwistle was basically a deaf bass player, but then I think that’s not reassuring at all.
The set was fun and we were joined on stage for an encore of Teasing LuLu by two lovely young ladies who’d been bopping away at the front. The evenings first band, Miss Pain rocked (or bleeped) in a Kraftwerk meets the Human League style. They also had an enviable Bryan Ferry mirror! The Fairy Traders played politely some where in between. We all got steaming drunk afterwards. Bring on Ladyfest Bristol!

Thursday, July 17, 2003

Apparently some of you good people out there are having problems viewing the new version of the Teasing Lulu website when using Microsoft Internet Explorer. This is not a problem with the new site. In fact, it is a problem that has been created by the previous version of the site. Hidden amongst the HTML was some nasty generated code that put cookies (curse, spit) on your computers! Sorry about that, folks!

To make sure you can view the latest version of this site, you will most likely have to do the following:
At the top of your browser, go to Tools > Internet Options
Making sure you have the General tab selected, click on Delete Files… under the heading “Temporary Internet Files”.
Select Delete All Offline Content and click OK.
Alternatively you may want to click on Settings… under the heading “Temporary Internet Files”, then on the next window, select View Files…, and then pick and choose which of yor temporary internet files you delete. Obviously, this way will take much longer, but at least it doesn’t wipe out the things that you actually would prefer to leave in your cache.
Hopefully, when you go back to www.teasinglulu.com and press Refresh you will see the latest version of the site as it should be.

It should look something like this….

If, however, you’re still getting the old page, please go here (this is a copy of the front page with a slightly different file name, and therefore shouldn’t be cached on your computer).

Monday, July 14, 2003

Today we have unveiled the new-look Teasing LuLu website! There are loads of fab new photos by Keith Curtis, MP3 snippets, song lyrics, and some upcoming gigs announced.

Friday, July 11, 2003

Come and see us headline at Ladyfest Brighton at the Freebutt on 19th July!
It’s an evening of all girl bands and includes Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music fans Miss Pain and girl pop from The Fairy Traders. See ya there.

Tuesday, June 17, 2003

Teasing LuLu will be headlining the Brighton Ladyfest benefit at the Freebutt on the 19th July. More details will follow!

Friday, June 13, 2003

Played our gig at the Hobgoblin pub and it went very well. Strange to play a show with no stage area, so we were set up in the back on the floor, a chance to get to know the audience. Bloody hot, probably one of the stickiest we’ve done, so well done to Serena for surviving. Especially after the grumpy old sound man (Mr. Misery?) shouted at her to close the door, her only bit of air. Charlie Harper from the UK Subs was there by chance, and watched our set! By the way, never, ever drink cider.

Monday, June 09, 2003

The Teasing LuLu track, “Don’t Wanna Be Your Waitress” has been selected to appear on the LUV magazine (Latest Underground Vibe) CD compilation, to be given away free with their next issue. Buy it you scabs! It’s worth every penny. And there’ll be other Brighton bands included, like Eighties Matchbox, Levellers and Turin Brakes.

We’re playing the Hobgoblin pub, London Road, Brighton on Thursday the 12th June. Be there, or be a sad old billy no mates, sat at home watching Eastenders. It’s free so there’s no excuses.

Wednesday, June 04, 2003

See our NEW lyrics page. We expect you all to print out the words and sing a long at the front of the stage!

Sunday, June 01, 2003

We have A GIG! It will be at the Prince Albert pub, top of Trafalger Street in Brighton on Thursday 5th June. We really must up date our gig page. See you there you crazy people. We’ll be on probably about 9.30, but we shall update if that changes.

Well, we didn’t play a gig with ‘7 and 7 Is’ after all. And my, didn’t they get their knickers in a twist over our flyers that mentioned they were playing! Not our problem, we’d been told they would play but as it turned out, they didn’t. They may be supporting the Seeds, but we had James Lowe of the Electric Prunes sign our guest book, bet Skye Saxon hasn’t signed theirs.

Sunday, May 25, 2003

See the gallery for a couple of new pictures taken of us with the lovely David Vanian and the lovely Captain Sensible of the Damned, back stage at Hertford. Thanks to P for the photo’s.

Friday, May 23, 2003

Dear all, we have a new gig confirmed for next week, the 29th May at the Pavillion Tavern in Brighton. We’re playing with local stalwarts 7 and 7 Is (“Love” fans we’re guessing, Lou saw the recent Arthur Lee’s Love tour and it was amazing). Following the gig there’s a cool indie club night (they play everything good from the Foo’s to 60s stuff). Groovy baby, see ya there!

Monday, May 19, 2003

We had our photo shoot with a very nice man called Keith Curtis (he loves his music!). The results of which you’ll all be seeing very soon. There’s some brilliant pictures coming! It was a fun day, pratting about in front a of a camera and listening to Jethro Tull CD’s. Rock on!

Saturday night we supported the Damned at Hertford Castle. Such a groovy gig! On a big posh stage with all the Damned watching and a sizeable crowd. We even had proper lights…normally we’d get a light bulb in the centre of the room (well, it often seems that way). Thank you to the Damned for the use of their amps, kit etc..Sounded fat! And we met some great people. There was a bunch of young guys who were into the Stooges, so they were cool to chat to. Sunday night, Louisa traveled on to watch the Damned play in Camden at a goth fest (black is the new black y’know!). She now nurses a sore head due to the strong Bloody Mary made by Vanian.

Thursday, May 15, 2003

Remember – Saturday 17th we’re supporting punk heroes the Damned at Hertford Castle Music festival.
See you there..if we can find it.
PS: We want to go and see Q.O.T.S.A at Brixton Academy in June. Tickets have all gone. Boo-hoo. If anybody has any they’d like to sell, get in touch: teasinglulu@hotmail.com

Today we recorded 4 new tracks, including live favourites “Girls Go Guitar Shopping” and manic closer “The Teasing LuLu Theme”. Adge was very patient and did a star turn on the tambourine, he’s multi talented that one (and he’s appearing on So! Graham Norton next week playing some guitar, what a dude!). Adge was the man with the big blue chair so we listened to what he had to say. Serena got a skanky brown chair and she did some funky dancing. Louisa was very happy as she got to do some 60s style hand claps, at last! Lucy gave some cool Polystyrene-esque vocal performances despite sneezing lots between takes. Keep an eye out at gigs for our new demo…

Sunday, May 11, 2003

Thanks to everyone who turned up to see our Freebutt gig! It was hard work on stage as Lucy’s monitor packed up and Louisa’s mic kept falling off it’s stand, but it was a good laugh. We had lots of nice boys watching us. But our onstage appeal for hunky roadies didn’t get many volunteers. Oh well..
Busy week ahead. We have a photo shoot on Tuesday (a real proper studio one!), recording 4 new tracks on Thursday, Damned support on Saturday and lots of rehearsals inbetween.

Friday, May 09, 2003

Come and see us play on 10th May at the Freebutt, Brighton. We’re on with US band The Clarks around 8.00pm.

A music legend likes our our site and us :o)

“Badass! Great colors. Fresh as a tease can be! I really like the title with the cheetah fur. You kids rock! We are totally “teased”. How could a band with a heart shaped bass not make it! Rock on, ladies!”

James Lowe – Electric Prunes

For all of you musical philistines, The Electric Prunes were one of THE greatest psychedelic garage bands of the late 60s. And they’re still producing great music, check out www.electricprunes.com

The Cable Club gig was a great success and thanks to everyone who came along. We met some nice people who we hope to meet at other shows soon. Playing the Worthing Pavilion Theatre with the Damned was certainly an experience! Such a strange venue and a MASSIVE stage. The promoter was clearly insane and some guy tried to convert us to Christianity back stage by presenting us with a paper cross .
The same bloke wanted to introduce us and my pleas for him to bog off were ignored, so we were stuck with this mad grinning fool on stage with us. Then Serena’s drums fell apart…But we did get a good response from the audience and had a few beers at the bar with some of them.
The Damned played a storming set and were as charming as ever! It just took a few drunken morons with half a brain cell between ’em in the crowd to spoil an otherwise groovy evening (for anyone in attendance you know what we mean!).

We have dates for recording a new demo of 4 tracks with a friend of ours called Adje. On the 15th and 22nd May, will be eating sweets, drinking Stella, giving Adje grief and recording; Girls Go Guitar Shopping, I’m Not Listening (To You), Mr. Misery and the Teasing LuLu Theme.

We have a few more gigs lined up for the coming months…
10th May we play Brighton’s Freebutt with The Clarks. The Freebutt was also the scene of our first ever gig in the world, and we’re still fond of it. 12th June we play the Hobgoblin in Brighton (usually the venue for death metal and the like, but they now have the good taste to put us on!). 26th June we’re playing a gig in Burgess Hill (venue details to be confirmed) and 28th June the Archway in London have asked us back! Don’t forget we have a gig at the Cable Club in Brighton on the 29th April and the following evening we’re supporting the Damned in Worthing!
See you there.

We’ve added ten new photos from last Friday’s gig at The Archway in London. Head on over to the Gallery to see them. It’s the second row of pics that you want!

We recently won Radio 1’s ‘Famous For 15 Seconds’ on the Colin Murray show. Basically, we were pitted against another band and each band got 15 seconds to sell themselves and their music. Listeners then voted for which band they’d most like to hear…as is only right, we won! Our track ‘Don’t Wanna Be Your Waitress’ was played and Colin really liked it (so he should, it’s brilliant). Much beer was drunk in jubilation as we danced about Lou’s flat.

It’s been an exciting few weeks as we were played on the Colin Murray show on Radio 1 and we also appear on the Radio 1 website, under One Music’s unsigned band demo’s. We’re in DJ Mike Davies “Lock Up” section and 2 of our tracks are available for down loads. Please vote for us and we may end up on the play list ;o)

Hah! Today (the 8th April) we appeared in everyones favourite local rag The Argus. Great little piece, but unfortunately we’re named as Teasing LILY! That’s show business I guess.

Teasing LuLu opened the Punk Aid Festival 2003 in Brixham, Devon. The gig was great and everybody was so nice. We saw the UK Subs (Charlie Harper watched our set!), Dead Kennedy’s and the Damned (who were fab). We even got an on stage plug from Captain Sensible. Serina had a good old mosh to the Damned and Groundhogs and we all partied with Portugese punks the Parkinsons (mind you, their idea of a party is cleaning teeth {?}, sweeping floors and half heartedly tipping a table over…yawn!).

We all stayed up way past our bedtimes to tune into 107.2 Juice FM’s Totally Wired show to hear our Metway radio session. We’d previously made a trip to the Levellers studio in Brighton and recorded versions of ‘Rock n’ Roll Boy’ and ‘Professional Daughter’ (in between chatting to the engineer, drinking Stella’s and nicking his wine gums). DJ Claire Kember compared us to X-Ray Spex, which is more than OK by us and we got some gig plugs. Hopefully the first of many radio sessions. It’s really exciting to hear our songs being played and next time we want an interview!

Teasing LuLu are featured on Daisy Rock guitars web site under artists section. Click on Louisa’s photo and get a band shot!

More recording in the offing! New titles include ‘Girls Go Guitar Shopping’ and ‘I’m Not Listening’ plus ‘The Teasing LuLu Theme’.
