Early News Items (2003)

We recently won Radio 1’s ‘Famous For 15 Seconds’ on the Colin Murray show. Basically, we were pitted against another band and each band got 15 seconds to sell themselves and their music. Listeners then voted for which band they’d most like to hear…as is only right, we won! Our track ‘Don’t Wanna Be Your Waitress’ was played and Colin really liked it (so he should, it’s brilliant). Much beer was drunk in jubilation as we danced about Lou’s flat.

It’s been an exciting few weeks as we were played on the Colin Murray show on Radio 1 and we also appear on the Radio 1 website, under One Music’s unsigned band demo’s. We’re in DJ Mike Davies “Lock Up” section and 2 of our tracks are available for down loads. Please vote for us and we may end up on the play list ;o)

Our next gig is in Devon, but seeing as that’s far away how about coming to see us play in London on the 18th April at the Archway Tavern…here are details of where to find it. It’s where the Kinks started out y’know! “The Archway” is located at the foot of Highgate Hill and the top of Holloway Road (A1), directly opposite Archway Underground Station. The building is situated on an island created by the junction of 5 roads: Highgate Hill, Holloway Road (A1), Archway Road, Junction Road and St. John’s Way.

There’s also a gig at the Cable Club, Brighton on the 29th April and a support slot with punk legends the Damned in Worthing at the Pavillion Theatre on the 30th. Come along, we’d love to see you all.

Hah! Today (the 8th) we appeared in everyones favourite local rag The Argus. Great little piece, but unfortunately we’re named as Teasing LILY! That’s show business I guess.

Teasing LuLu opened the Punk Aid Festival 2003 in Brixham, Devon. The gig was great and everybody was so nice. We saw the UK Subs (Charlie Harper watched our set!), Dead Kennedy’s and the Damned (who were fab). We even got an on stage plug from Captain Sensible. Serina had a good old mosh to the Damned and Groundhogs and we all partied with Portugese punks the Parkinsons (mind you, their idea of a party is cleaning teeth {?}, sweeping floors and half heartedly tipping a table over…yawn!).

We all stayed up way past our bedtimes to tune into 107.2 Juice FM’s Totally Wired show to hear our Metway radio session. We’d previously made a trip to the Levellers studio in Brighton and recorded versions of ‘Rock n’ Roll Boy’ and ‘Professional Daughter’ (in between chatting to the engineer, drinking Stella’s and nicking his wine gums). DJ Claire Kember compared us to X-Ray Spex, which is more than OK by us and we got some gig plugs. Hopefully the first of many radio sessions. It’s really exciting to hear our songs being played and next time we want an interview!.
